Position Summary
The School of Education at Claflin University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Math Education and Coordinator of CAEP Assessment. This faculty member will provide leadership for the assessment and accreditation processes of the School of Education while contributing to the preparation of future mathematics educators. The position combines responsibilities in assessment leadership accreditation support teaching curriculum development and faculty collaboration to ensure the continuous improvement of educator preparation programs and compliance with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) standards.
The successful candidate will oversee systematic data collection analysis and reporting for program evaluation and accreditation while teaching in the mathematics education program and supporting the renewal of mathematics education curricula.
Primary Responsibilities
Assessment and Accreditation Leadership
- Ensure that data for all programs within the School of Education are collected regularly consistently and systematically and that results are analyzed and shared with faculty and staff in a timely manner.
- Develop implement and maintain procedures for the collection management and analysis of data required for the CAEP accreditation process.
- Collaborate with faculty to review and refine faculty-constructed assessments ensuring reliability and validity of instruments used for candidate evaluation.
Ensure that unit-wide assessment tools used to collect programmatic data meet standards for reliability and validity and support meaningful program evaluation
- Engage faculty in examining and determining the reliability and effectiveness of AI-assisted instructional materials used in classroom instruction.
- Support grant development and proposal submissions by contributing to evaluation design research procedures and assessment strategies.
- Compile and prepare quarterly and annual assessment reports for internal and external stakeholders including accreditation bodies.
- Ensure that data-driven reports are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner to appropriate university and accreditation entities.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure that student assessment data are systematically analyzed compiled and presented for program review and continuous improvement.
- Provide recommendations based on assessment data to inform program improvements strengthen candidate outcomes and align with the School of Educations strategic goals.
- Work closely with the Coordinator of Technology to support seamless data collection interpretation and analysis using institutional assessment systems.
Teaching and Academic Responsibilities
- Serve as Co-Coordinator of the Math Education Program in collaboration with faculty in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
- Serve as Coordinator of the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Mathematics program.
- Teach at least one course per semester in mathematics education or a related area.
- Collaborate with faculty in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics to review and renew the mathematics education curriculum to ensure alignment with state standards CAEP expectations and best practices in mathematics instruction.
- Engage in scholarly activity and professional service consistent with expectations for tenure-track faculty.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Mathematics Education Curriculum and Instruction Educational Assessment Educational Leadership or a closely related field (ABD considered with completion required before appointment).
- Experience with educator preparation accreditation processes (CAEP or similar).
- Knowledge of assessment systems data collection and program evaluation in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret assessment data to inform program improvement.
- Experience teaching mathematics education courses or working in K12 mathematics education.
- Strong organizational analytical and collaborative skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience serving as assessment coordinator or accreditation liaison in an educator preparation program.
- Familiarity with state licensure requirements and educator preparation program standards.
- Experience with data management systems and educational assessment platforms.
- Record of scholarly research grant participation or publication related to teacher education assessment or mathematics education.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusion in educator preparation.
