    JOB GOAL:

    Responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms using skills and techniques of artistic expression and discover and develop talents of students in the field of art. Utilizing arts integration be able to demonstrate through teaching practices and student learning outcomes interdisciplinary thinking; especially how artistic design integrates into the fields of the humanities science technology engineering and mathematics.

    REPORTS TO:

    Building Administration

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure students understanding the historical social and cultural context of artistic accomplishments.
    • Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.
    • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
    • Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment.
    • Organize storage areas and control use of materials equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse and to minimize time required for distribution and collection.
    • Evaluate each students performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings and prepare progress reports.
    • Select and requisition books instructional materials tools instructional aids and maintain required inventory records.
    • Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students work for the school and the community.
    • May sponsor exhibits from outside the school.
    • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
    • Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
    • Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs such as after school clubs.
    • Collaborate with other specialists and classroom teachers to support thematic units of instruction.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration.

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Strong background in both art and technology; experience with applications that focus on design.
    • Knowledge and experience of inquiry based instruction with a focus on student engagement defined learning outcomes during all phases of instruction and classroom organization.
    • All abilities of a good teacher: excellent classroom management sound instructional practice ability to communicate effectively with parents and other school personnel etc.
    • Ability to differentiate for learners at different academic and language levels.
    • Desire and ability to work collaboratively in a team situation.

    PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelors or Masters degree in Art Education.
    • Applicants must be able to obtain a teaching certificate with anArt Endorsement requiredthat is issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board ( School District places employees on salary schedules on the basis of:
      1. Wyoming experience.
      2. Out-of-state experience up to 7 years.
      3. Degree ï½ Bachelors Masters or Doctorate.
      4. Semester Graduate Credits beyond Degree.

      Salary pending approval of the 26/27 Compensation Package; 25/26 package can be foundhere.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

      The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. 0 - 12 feet and on occasion up to 20 feet such as boxes of books and/or equipment. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person may need to lift arms to write on chalk or marking board and occasionally stoop kneel crouch and reach 0 - 24 inches and up to 36 inches above the head. The employee is directly responsible for the safety well-being and work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed materialthe ability to adjust focus and exposure to screen(s) via technology. Hearing ability to monitor activity and presence of students and respond to communication with students and adults is required. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is normally low to moderate but may become loud when large groups are together in a room. The employee may be required to move from room to room to provide instruction and may have to maneuver in crowded hallways. The employee may be exposed to unpredictable weather conditions. This position is typically performed in a hazard free clean and healthy environment.
