Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager of Facility Services the incumbent as a HVAC Mechanic: Installs maintains and repairs environmental control to ensure proper operation of equipment within all facilities buildings on the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point Campus. Facility Services is committed to the highest standard of customer relations principles for its customers fellow staff members students and visitors. Shift: Monday through Friday 7am to 3pm with some occasional weekend needs

Key Job Responsibilities:
- Monitors tests maintains and repairs building control systems and related equipment according to established policies and procedures
- Performs scheduled preventative and routine maintenance and documents activity on equipment and systems to ensure optimal and safe operation
- Identifies troubleshoots triages and escalates system problems equipment malfunctions and repair needs
- Receives prioritizes and responds to service requests according to established timelines and policies

Compensation & Benefits:
The Building Controls System Technician is a full-time hourly annual (12-month) university staff position.
Well-qualified candidates can expect $26.00/hour minimum based on qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated skill to logically analyze complex systems and resolve HVAC and related problems.
Understanding and ability to plan methods and procedures required troubleshoot install and repair work on campus HVAC systems
Experience with evaluating/assessing refrigeration systems/units and providing basic preventative maintenance (lubrication filter change etc.) to said systems/units.
Knowledge of all hand and power tools used in the HVAC trade their proper application and operation.
Ability to read and understand schematics blueprints construction documents procedural operational and maintenance manuals gauges and meters.
Understanding of the correct methods to connect pipes of similar and dissimilar materials (including brazing and soldering).
Willingness and ability to learn and develop skills associated with basic refrigeration repair.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Organizational skills to establish work priorities be resourceful and manage work independently to successful completion.
Ability to work on all shifts including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
Drivers License must have a valid drivers license for 2 years to drive a state vehicle.
