Project Manager (Joinery / Carpentry Background Essential)
Salary: Up to 65000
Working Pattern: Hybrid (office remote subject to business needs)
Location: Romford RM4
The Opportunity
A well-established joinery business is looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee projects from contract award through to installation and final handover. This role is ideal for someone with a strong joinery or carpentry background who can confidently manage multiple stakeholders and deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Delivery
- Manage projects from initial briefing through manufacture installation and completion
- Develop and maintain detailed project programmes and schedules
- Monitor progress against timelines budgets and key milestones
- Identify and manage risks issues and variations
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients
- Attend client site and progress meetings
- Coordinate with architects designers contractors and consultants
- Ensure client expectations are clearly understood and delivered
Commercial & Financial Oversight
- Manage budgets cost control and forecasting
- Review and approve project expenditure and subcontractor payments
- Handle variations valuations and final accounts
- Support procurement of materials and specialist subcontractors
Production & Installation Coordination
- Liaise with workshop teams to ensure accurate interpretation of drawings
- Coordinate manufacturing schedules and delivery timelines
- Oversee installation on-site to ensure quality and compliance
- Resolve technical or production issues as needed
Quality Health & Safety
- Ensure all work meets required quality standards and specifications
- Maintain compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies
- Assist in preparing and reviewing RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements)
Documentation & Reporting
- Manage technical drawings schedules and specifications
- Maintain accurate project records and reporting
- Provide weekly project updates
- Ensure full and accurate handover documentation at project completion
Requirements
- Proven experience managing joinery or fit-out projects
- Strong understanding of bespoke or commercial joinery processes
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Excellent organisational communication and leadership skills
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools
Desirable
- Experience in high-end residential or commercial projects
- CSCS Card (Manager level)
- NVQ Level 6 or 7 in Construction Management
- SMSTS qualification
