Job Summary

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This position is responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time for all non-certified staff providing information to employees maintaining records and completing assigned projects and tasks in an efficient and effective manner. Will be expected to work under limited supervision following standardizes practices and/or methods to provide information and/or advice to others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Processes hourly payroll for over 1000 employees.

Ensures hourly employees are coded to the correct budget code.

Answers phones for the purpose of screening calls transferring calls responding to inquiries and/ or taking messages.

Assists with employee processes for non-certified staff to meet district requirements while complying with established guidelines.

Maintain and supports employee time clock to ensure employee requests for leaves and/or time cards are processed a timely manner.

Maintains a variety of files and records for the purpose of compiling pertinent employee information ensuring accuracy of employees records maintaining eligibility for position and complying with mandated requirements.

Performs record keeping and clerical functions that supports the Payroll Supervisor.

Processes documents and material for the purpose of developing and disseminating information to appropriate parties.

Responds to written and verbal inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources by providing information and/or direction.

Completes cross-training in all other payroll functions to ensure knowledge and to assist others with in the department as necessary.

Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum education include a high school graduate and previous experience in an office atmosphere. Associates degree preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and groups from all levels of the organization. Individual must have effective listening skills.

ANALYTICAL and REASONING SKILLS

Individual must also be able to handle a large number of tasks and assignments at the same time through effective multi-tasking and time management skills. Ability to schedule a number of activities meetings and/or events; gather collate and/or classify data. Ability to work a variety of data. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines. Attention to detail necessary.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

Individual must be competent in technology. Must also have to capability to collect and sort data through technology. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and Word.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Normal office physical demands. May periodically have moderate physical demands and may be require to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. The noise level is usually moderate. Generally employee works inside.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

Will perform other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee necessary and appropriate to achievement of the program and/or District goals and objectives.
