Position Summary:

The Parking Office of Rice University is seeking a Custodian to provide routine custodial services to an assigned area in order to maintain a clean and safe environment for students faculty and staff.

The ideal candidate is a dependable team-oriented individual who can speak and understand basic English follow directions and work well with others in a fast-paced environment. This person takes pride in maintaining clean safe and welcoming spaces demonstrates strong attention to detail and is willing to support teammates as needed. A successful candidate will be proactive in identifying maintenance needs committed to high standards of cleanliness and flexible in assisting with a variety of custodial duties to support daily operations.

Workplace Requirements:

This role is classified as an essential position requiring on-site presence to effectively carry out its vital functions.

Hourly Hiring Range: $18.00

Minimum Requirements:

• No formal education

• 6 months of related experience

  • In lieu of the experience requirement additional related education above and beyond what is required on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted

• Must be able to speak and understand basic English

• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team with others

• Ability to follow directions

Essential Functions:

• Cleans showers restroom floors lavatories fixtures kitchenettes public spaces offices laboratories etc.

• Replenishes paper supplies

• Vacuums sweeps dusts and mops floors

• Cleans and polishes furniture glass doors mirrors walls and other surfaces

• Removes trash

• Identifies and reports needed repairs

• Assists other custodians with work as needed

• Performs all other duties assigned
