House Supervisor (3129)
Job Summary
The House Supervisor provides clinical and administrative leadership by coordinating hospital operations patient placement staffing and resource utilization during assigned shifts. This role supports safe high-quality patient care across all units by serving as a clinical resource to nursing staff and facilitating effective communication among departments. Working within a collaborative team-based environment the House Supervisor partners with clinical leaders physicians and support services to ensure smooth operations and timely decision-making. This position represents nursing leadership during off-hours and operates within a structured supportive leadership framework in alignment with Trinity Health policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate hospital operations during assigned shifts including patient placement staffing adjustments and resource allocation across units.
- Serve as a clinical resource and point of escalation for nursing and clinical staff assisting with complex patientcare situations as needed.
- Monitor patient flow bed availability and capacity; collaborate with physicians nursing leaders and ancillary departments.
- Support implementation of policies procedures and regulatory requirements; respond to emergent events and critical incidents.
- Communicate with leaders staff patients and families to support safe patient centered care and service recovery when needed.
- Document shift activities staffing decisions and significant events; participate in quality and performance improvement activities.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Educational Requirements:
- RN program as evidenced by licensure.
- Official diploma or transcript from the school/university where the degree was received.
Experience Requirements:
- Three years of clinical experience.
- Supervisory experience is desired.
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
- Membership in a professional organization is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The House Supervisor requires the ability to stand and walk for 6-12 hours per shift in hospital units; perform frequent bending reaching and patientcare activities; and use fine motor skills for clinical procedures and computer documentation. Team members must be able to lift push or pull at least 35 pounds and assist with heavier loads as part of a team in support of patient mobility equipment handling and emergency response. Adequate vision hearing and communication abilities are required for safe clinical practice and leadership.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed in inpatient hospital units hallways and clinical support areas with potential exposure to infectious diseases bodily fluids chemicals cleaning agents and medical equipment hazards. The role includes responding to clinical emergencies alarms and urgent situations in highactivity areas. Use of PPE is required and variable schedules including nights weekends and holidays may be necessary.
