Brief Description/Job Summary: Application Engineer (Biological Treatment & Aeration Systems)

GCC seeks to hire an Application Engineer who can contribute to the growth of Xylems India Technology Center and its expansion into disruptive technology and business solutions. The position involves playing a key role in advancing Xylem water treatment technology capabilities. The Application Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design sizing proposal and costing of biological wastewater treatment processes and aeration systems. This role requires strong technical expertise commercial acumen and the ability to work cross-functionally with sales mechanical controls and operations teams to deliver competitive solutions and successful project execution. Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

• Provide pre- and post-bid application engineering support including process design sizing costing and proposal preparation for biological treatment and aeration systems.
• Conduct tender evaluations review customer specifications and engineering drawings
• Develop Basic Engineering Packages (BEP) including process design mass balance PFDs unit sizing P&IDs hydraulic design and HFDs.
• Prepare budgetary and firm proposals including detailed cost estimates equipment sizing and technical narratives.
• Draft operating and functional descriptions ensuring alignment with project requirements.
• Provide technical support and CAD input for proposal drawings and layouts.
• Interact directly with customers sales teams and representatives to clarify technical queries and support project acquisition.
• Work closely with mechanical instrumentation and controls engineers to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Perform equipment selection and sizing of auxiliaries such as pumps blowers mixers aeration equipment sensors and instruments etc.
• Collaborate with vendors and OEMs: Prepare and issue RFQs (Request for Quotation) Perform technical evaluation of vendor offers Support vendor selection based on cost compliance and technical fit.
• Compile complete engineering packages for proposals including drawings datasheets and other required documentation.
• Conduct project risk analysis compliance reviews and deviation assessments.
• Independently manage deliverables with accountability for project planning scheduling and timely execution.

Must Have:

• Strong technical knowledge of biological wastewater treatment processes and aeration system design.
• Proficiency in process hydraulic heat and mass balance and equipment sizing calculations.
• Familiarity with international standards industry codes and best practices for wastewater treatment.
• Ability to bridge technical and commercial aspects of projects including costing and proposals.

Good to Have:

• Working knowledge of mechanical piping and instrumentation design integration.
• Hands-on/on-site exposure to erection commissioning and troubleshooting of wastewater treatment plants.
• Strong cross-functional communication and customer-facing skills.
• Awareness of emerging technologies and digital tools in biological treatment and aeration.

Qualifications:

• 4-Year bachelors degree/4 2-Year masters degree in Environment/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering field from a recognized university.
• 26 years of relevant experience in water and wastewater treatment engineering.
• Proven expertise in application engineering proposal development and process design for treatment plants.
• Knowledge of various water treatment technologies and technological advancements.
