Associate Staff Scientist

Position Overview and Responsibilities

The Scofield lab is hiring an Associate Staff Scientist to design and conduct research experiments; prepare reports presentations and manuscripts for publication; assists with grant writing; and oversee and/or manage research projects summarize and present results as well as guiding/leading graduate students postdocs and lab staff; may manage staff.

Responsibilities:

• Apply principles and practices of scientific theory research and immunology
• Formulate and test scientific hypotheses
• Design and conduct research experiments
• Analyze interpret and summarize data and experimental results
• Prepare and write technical and scientific papers
• Develop and write grant proposals
• Communicate scientific concepts effectively in both oral and written formats
• Mentor students and provide guidance to junior scientists
• Direct and oversee the work of less experienced research staff

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a biological science chemistry physics or other relevant area M.D. or equivalent
• Three years of postdoctoral research experience
• Familiarity with standard lab techniques

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with laboratory techniques including but not limited to flow cytometry RNA expression analysis and CRISPR-Cas systems
• Proficiency in analyzing large and complex datasets including genome-wide association studies and RNA expression data
