This position is an anticipated vacancy. It is expected to be vacant by 08/31/2026. However the current incumbent has a right to rescind their retirement leave or resignation up until the day of the expected vacancy date. Your hire will not be confirmed until the position is vacated and you may start the year as a Long-Term Substitute if the position does not become vacant by the start of the school year.

Position Overview:
TheSenior Director provides Leadership support to the Related Services constituents under the direction of the Deputy Chief of Specialized Services(or Designee). The Senior Director will serve as a member of both the OSE Executive Team and the OSE Staff Group. Additionally the Senior Director will be responsible for developing; service assignments for schools and strategic plans geared towards the improvement of student outcomes and high quality instruction.
Responsibilities:
Leadership support
- Interview hire train and manage staff to ensure high quality workproductivity and effectiveness as well as retention of staff. This includes writing/updating job descriptions posting and management of all aspects of TalentEd for Related Services candidates.
- Manages over 300 staff including :
- Speech/Language Pathologists
- Occupational Therapists
- Physical TherapistsAdaptive
- Physical Education Teachers
- Teachers of the Deaf
- Audiologists
- Teachers of the Visually Impaired and Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialists
- Partnerships with other OSS leaders:
- Manager for Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Senior Program Director for Mediation and 504
- Assistant Directors for Schools and Settings
In addition the Senior Director is responsible for:
- Developing proposal for provision of related services in community organizations andguidance to Early Childhood Department for implementation of these services in the UPK program.
- Establishing and managing partnerships with universities/colleges for graduate student placements for speech-language pathology occupational therapy physical therapy and Teachers of Visual Impairments. This includes MOU work with OLA and the universitys legal department.
- Training for BPS staff in supervision to ensure the highest educational experience for graduate students that meets the needs of BPS students receiving services.
- Providing Professional Development and Guidance by Developing yearly professional development plan for related services staff that is specific to each discipline in the areas of comprehensive related services and that are aligned with BPS standards based curriculum and system-wide initiatives. Typically includes 54 professional development addition plan and lead contractual full-day professional development
- All Personnel matters and management including of personnel management:
- Daily attendance approvals LOA
- Discipline and dismissal recommendations to the Superintendent
- Ensure timely and responsible use of all funds to purchase needed materials correctmileage submission by RS staff appropriate and relevant RS provider purchase of therapy materials with contractual 200$ monies
- Manage ELT time for Related Service providers assigned to ELT schools.
- Work closely with Payroll
- Hold/lead JUM meetings
- Participate in BTU Grievance process when applicable
- Complete Performance Evaluation observations and evaluations per OHC guidelines for BTU members Management BASAS Paraprofessional and Guild personnel.
- Find and establish contracts with Staffing agencies.
- Manage contractors timesheets.
- Sign individual contractors; service contracts with each agency.
- Work closely with Business Service- Procurement and Reimbursement in allocation of funding based on needs support Business office when questions arise regarding Invoices.

Qualifications - Required:
- Masters Degree in a related services field
- Certification in Special Education or related field
- Certification in Supervision or Administration
- Three (3) years experience providing services in urban special education or related field
- Experience providing leadership and supervision in urban special education or related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of special education regulations and best practices
Qualifications - Preferred:
- Experience in special education administration and supervision
- Proficiency in a language other than English
Terms: BASAS Group 12B 12 months 225 days
