Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented rights management candidate to oversee the clearance tracking and management of all intellectual property rights across our content portfolio which spans films television digital and emerging media across all general entertainment channels sports and digital platforms. The candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring our content is properly managed licensed distributed and exploited in compliance with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
Rights Tracking & Database Management:
- Maintain and update rights management systems to reflect current ownership term language and territory/platform restrictions.
- Input and validate contract metadata including rights in/out holdbacks term expirations.
Content Clearance & Licensing:
- Work with production legal and content acquisition teams to clear rights.
- Review and track licenses permissions and restrictions across content assets.
Contract Interpretation & Rights Analysis:
- Analyze complex licensing agreements and distribution agreements to determine rights availability and obligations.
- Generate rights availability reports for internal stakeholders including sales marketing and programming teams.
Compliance & Risk Mitigation:
- Identify and escalate rights conflicts expirations or compliance restrictions before content is distributed or monetized.
- Support internal audits and due diligence for content library acquisitions or distribution deals.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support:
- Serve as a key resource to legal production and distribution teams regarding content rights and clearances.
- Liaise with scheduling technology consumer products marketing teams on various assignments.
Key Skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills including ability to work effectively within a team and a fast-paced dynamic business environment
- Excellent communication skills and proficient in English language (both verbal and written) and the ability to interface with people across all levels in the organization
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Excel and data management tools
- Good team player
Preferred Education & Experience
- LLB from a reputed university.
- 3-4 years experience in rights management content clearance or business/legal affairs in the media/entertainment industry.
- Sound knowledge of copyright trademark and contract law as applied to media rights.
- Familiarity with rights management software.
