The First Databank (FDB) is currently seeking an HR Intern - Process Improvement (AI and Automation Focus) in the People & Culture department.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative individual to support process improvement initiatives within the Human Resources function with a focus on leveraging AI and automation.

This role is ideal for someone interested in the intersection of HR operations and emerging technologies and offers hands-on experience improving HR processes such as recruiting onboarding employee support and data management.

Position will be based out of South San Francisco CA office.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in mapping and documenting current HR processes (e.g. recruiting onboarding employee lifecycle).

  • Identify inefficiencies manual tasks and opportunities for automation.

  • Research and evaluate AI tools to enhance HR processes (e.g. resume screening chatbots document automation).

  • Assist in building simple AI-enabled solutions (e.g. templates prompts automated workflows).

  • Analyze HR data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

  • Develop user guides for new AI-enabled tools and workflows.

  • Gather feedback from stakeholders and suggest improvements.

Required Skills:

  • Interest in operations process improvement and emerging technologies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

Required Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree

  • Exposure to AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT Microsoft Copilot)

  • Familiarity with HR systems (e.g. Workday Greenhouse ADP) is preferred

  • Basic understanding of automation tools (e.g. Power Automate Zapier) is preferred

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI Tableau) is preferred

  • Knowledge of process improvement concepts (Lean Six Sigma) is preferred

In accordance with applicable law Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in San Francisco CA. The reasonable estimate if hired in San Francisco is $20 per hour. Please note this information is specific to those hired in location. If this role is open to candidates outside of location the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidates starting salary will be based on a number of permissible non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skills and experience training certifications and education.
