The College of Integrated Studies as the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Rock Campus seeks a Student Experience Coordinator (Student Affairs Program Specialist AE192).

Job Details:

The Student Experience Coordinator leads the development implementation and assessment of a comprehensive student engagement strategy designed to foster belonging involvement leadership development and campus vibrancy. This position enhances the co-curricular student experience by coordinating student activities advising student leadership organizations supporting clubs and governance structures and collaborating across departments to ensure a cohesive and inclusive campus environment.

The Coordinator serves as a primary champion for student involvement and engagement helping students connect to meaningful opportunities that enrich their academic journey and promote personal growth.

Responsibilities:

Student Engagement & Campus Programming

  • Develop implement and assess a comprehensive calendar of student activities and involvement opportunities that promote engagement inclusion and school spirit.

  • Lead the strategic planning and oversight of campus-wide events including but not limited to Welcome Day Majors Week Commencement and other signature student-facing programs.

  • Manage and coordinate the Programming Board to ensure high-quality diverse and well-attended student activities.

  • Collaborate with academic and student affairs partners to integrate co-curricular programming that complements classroom learning.

  • Promote student participation in leadership opportunities campus traditions and intercollegiate or intercampus competitions and activities.

Student Leadership & Organization Advising

  • Serve as advisor to the Student Government Association (SGA) providing oversight for meetings elections governance processes and sponsored events.

  • Support the development and sustainability of student clubs and organizations ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures.

  • Train and support student leaders including Hawksquad and club officers in leadership development event planning risk management and budget stewardship.

  • Encourage inclusive practices and broad participation across diverse student populations.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Coordinate and oversee the segregated fee allocation process ensuring transparency compliance and responsible fiscal management.

  • Monitor and reconcile budgets for student organizations and activity boards; process required documentation and financial paperwork.

  • Provide guidance to student leaders and advisors on financial procedures and responsible use of funds.

Assessment & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and implement assessment strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of student programs and activities.

  • Track participation metrics and analyze data to inform strategic improvements and resource allocation.

  • Prepare reports and recommendations to enhance student engagement retention and satisfaction.

Collaboration & Campus Partnership

  • In partnership with the Director of Enrollment and Student Affairs collaborate with Whitewater campus student affairs units to ensure alignment and a consistent student experience including wellness-related initiatives.

  • Coordinate the student life component of SOAR (orientation).

  • Serve on campus committees as assigned.

  • Contribute as a member of the Solution Center team to support front-line student services and problem resolution.

Supervision

  • Supervise and mentor at least one student employee including hiring training evaluation and performance feedback.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Writes edits and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns
  • Organizes student-focused programming and resources to promote new and ongoing educational initiatives
  • Serves as a subject matter expert regarding student affairs to internal and external stakeholders
  • Generates and analyzes reports of curricular and unit outcomes
  • Creates and maintains schedules logistics and resources for one or multiple student affairs programs activities and/or services

Compensation:

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary of $52000 commensurate with the candidates education related experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree.

  • Experience in event planning student programming or related activities.

  • Experience with budget management and financial oversight.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education student affairs or student engagement programming.

  • Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student involvement.

  • Strong communication interpersonal and facilitation skills.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse student populations.

  • Spanish language proficiency.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
