Bridge Operator

OVERVIEW

Archer Western Construction is currently seeking a Bridge Lift Operator for the Deep Creek Bridge Replacement Project inChesapeake VA.

The Bridge Lift Operators primary function is to initiate and oversee the mechanical sequence that raises and lowers the bridge to allow for the passage of marine vessels or to facilitate specific construction phases. They will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of moveable bridge spans (bascule vertical lift or swing bridges).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Operate electrical and hydraulic control consoles to engage traffic gates sirens and span locks before initiating the lift sequence
• Traffic management: monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic to ensure the bridge is completely clear before operation
• May perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• May be required to work in adverse weather conditions
• Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly
• Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn
• Requires good manual dexterity; may be standing bending kneeling or sitting for long periods
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening

RESPONSABILIDADES

CALIFICACIONES

• Debe poder levantar hasta 50 libras
• Puede ser requerido para trabajar en varias condiciones climáticas
• Requiere la capacidad de cumplir con todas las políticas y procedimientos de seguridad
