About this opportunity:

Cenovus Energy is seeking a Senior Process Controls Engineer for our Superior Refinery that will work closely with the Operations Process Reliability Maintenance and Project teams to support day-to-day operations and long-term improvements to the refinery control system. Responsibilities will include development of process control strategies optimization and troubleshooting of DCS/APC/SIS/PLC applications support of the alarm management system and monitoring control system performance. Other duties will include project support support of the Management of Change process HAZOP participation developing operator training materials and conducting operator training.

What youll do:

  • Design and implementation of control system (DCS SIS & PLC) hardware and software

  • Control system technical troubleshooting and provide support to operations

  • Advanced Process Control & Safety Instrumented System monitoring and performance

  • Support all aspects of capital/operational projects impacting the refinery control system

  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Process Control System health checks & monitoring

  • Conduct loop tuning for optimal refinery process & operations

  • Support Alarm Management/Alarm Rationalization and dynamic alarming activities

Who you are:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering with a Process Controls emphasis or an Instrument Technician with a Process Controls emphasis required

  • 8 years of experience in the Process Controls field or closely related discipline required

  • DCS Project Design Management and Commissioning experience

  • Process Control optimization analytical and alarm management experience

  • Previous oil and gas industry related experience or refining/petrochemical experience
