Job Summary

General Description:

The Emergency Department/Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) delivers patient-centered care across emergency inpatient and rural health clinic settings in accordance with Iowa licensure and hospital credentialing requirements. Working as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team the ARNP practices under general physician supervision. The ARNP will conduct comprehensive assessments prescribe medications develop evidence-based care plans communicate effectively with patients families and care teams and maintain accurate timely EHR documentation. This position is Comply with hospital policies bylaws quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emergency Department: Evaluate diagnose treat admit discharge and stabilize patients with acute or emergent conditions; coordinate transfers to higher levels of care as needed.

  • Inpatient/Hospitalist Services: Complete admissions perform histories and physicals initiate and manage treatment plans provide ongoing inpatient care and occasional rounds coordinate care determine discharge readiness and manage transfers under physician oversight.
  • Rural Health Clinic: Occasionally manage acute and same-day visits order and interpret diagnostics implement treatment plans and ensure follow-up and referrals.

Experience/Education Requirements:

Minimum of three (3) years of ER experience. Graduate of an accredited ARNP program with unrestricted license in the state of Iowa as a Nurse Practitioner. National certification as a Nurse Practitioner required. Active BLS ACLS PALS NRP ATLS TNCC required within 90 days of hire. Credentialed as a provider with active and unrestricted DEA and CSA license and prescriptive authority. Able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team. Able to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change. Must have a working knowledge of computers and Electronic Health Records.
