Job Summary
Job Description:
The Veterinary Technician/Assistant will be responsible for assisting the practice with a variety of duties including but not limited to:
- Assisting veterinarians during exams surgeries and other medical procedures; monitoring and caring for animals before during and after procedures
- Handling and restraining animals in a calm and compassionate manner.
- Prepare exam rooms and surgical areas restocking hospital with supplies.
- Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment; wrapping surgical packs/instruments.
- Prepare exam rooms and surgical areas with the necessary supplies.
- Educating pet owners on various products food and diseases
- Placing IV catheters; blood draws from cephalic saphenous and jugular veins
- Running bloodwork in house on Idexx Catalyst machines
- Taking x-rays
- Knowledge of Avimark preferred but not necessary.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of patient care and treatment
- Prepping and reading of cytology including skin ears fecal and urine
- Cleaning cages kennels exam rooms and surgical facilities; maintaining cleanliness of surgical instruments; maintaining cleanliness of clinic premises.
Requirements:
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have1 year experience as a veterinary technician/assistant
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes emotionally charged environment
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions closely
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new veterinary procedures and technologies
- LVT or CVA preferred but not necessary
- Must be comfortable working and restraining cats and dogs
- Must be comfortable around blood and surgical procedures
- Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds alone
- Must have reliable transportation

This is a very physical job that requires standing stooping and walking for extended periods of time.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Full time position 4 days a week 7:45am-5:30pm with 1 hour lunch
Pay is based on experience and licensure starting at $16.00 hour.
