What youll do (the role)
The Summer Internship program is twelve weeks long and will run from June 1st 2026 to August 31st 2026. Interns will be paid 1.500 brut/month. This is a hybrid role and the trainee must be able to work from our office in Madrid at least 3 days per week.
Summary
As a Grid Analytics Intern you will support the Grid team in analysing grid connection opportunities and project queue dynamics across European markets. Working alongside experienced grid engineers you will contribute to data-driven research on grid capacity connection processes and congestion patterns to help identify where and how renewable and storage projects can be optimally sited and accelerated.
This internship offers a unique entry point into the intersection of power systems data analytics and renewable energy development providing hands-on exposure to real project pipelines and grid intelligence workflows.
Responsibilities of the Role
- Monitor and analyse public grid connection queues and project pipelines across selected European countries identifying trends bottlenecks and emerging opportunities for new connections.
- Support the collection processing and visualisation of network capacity data including hosting capacity maps and available headroom at key nodes to assist in identifying high-potential grid zones.
- Assist in assessing connection process regulations and procedures (TSO/DSO rules connection codes) to map out timelines and feasibility for potential project siting across target geographies.
- Contribute to data analysis tasks using tools such as Python and/or Power BI to automate recurring reporting and surface opportunity signals from large datasets.
- Help maintain and update internal databases integrating regulatory and network data to support the teams grid intelligence platform.
- Collaborate with Grid Engineers to prepare clear summaries and visualisations of findings for internal teams.

Experience & Knowledge Required
- Academic background or coursework in electrical engineering energy systems power systems or a related quantitative field.
- Basic understanding of electricity networks grid connection processes or renewable energy development (gained through studies projects or previous internships).
- Familiarity with European energy regulatory frameworks (ENTSO-E TSO/DSO structure) is a plus but not mandatory.
- Exposure to data analysis methodologies either through academic projects or coursework.
- Interest in the renewable energy sector and energy transition topics.
Skills Required
- Analytical and data-driven mindset with the ability to process and interpret large datasets.
- Proficiency or strong interest in developing skills in Python and/or Power BI for data analysis and visualisation.
- Strong communication skills ability to summarise and present technical findings clearly and concisely.
- Organised proactive and able to manage multiple tasks in a collaborative fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in English; knowledge of an additional European language is a plus.
Education Required
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelors or Masters degree programme in Electrical Engineering Energy Systems Power Systems Renewable Energy Data Science or a closely related field (Optional Section: Additional Notes / Role-specific
