Your role and responsibilities

  • Manage yourself and support other members of the team in their personal development motivation performance behaviour health safety and general wellbeing.
  • Think critically and analytically to provide clear information to others make decisions and recommendations based on sound rationale.
  • Be an effective ambassador for the team and deliver useful clear communications internally and externally to a wide range of audiences.
  • Work collaboratively with others to build relationships and a network of contacts that will deliver the best outcomes taking account of customer satisfaction.
  • Respond to increasing financial pressure by being innovative and cost-focused while continuing to provide a quality service.
  • Respond to complex highway extent and status requests from a variety of sources both internal and external.
  • Research interpret and manage a range of data sets maps and records for locations not previously investigated or where existing records are contested.
  • Be a mentor help and guide others on the interpretation of information in relation to the status and extent of the highway.
  • Assessing responding to and processing requests relating to the stopping up of the highway.
  • Processing proposed road reclassifications.

You will need

  • A genuine interest in the role and in providing the best service you can
  • Experience of working with highway records information
  • An in-depth knowledge of the Highways Act 1980
  • A sound understanding of the established principles of highway law as it relates to the highway records service.

  • Highway Records is a small team responsible for researching the extent of the highway in Suffolk updating the internal mapping layer and producing plans for external companies.
