About the role:
Reporting to Engineer Processing the Technician Processing is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of test programs and plant trials that are vital for Elk Valley Water Treatment Facilities.
To be successful we require someone with excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills who has strong learning agility and analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated cross-functional team player who brings a collaborative approach to finding solutions. Strong attention-to-detail and organizational skills and the ability to work flexibly in a constantly evolving dynamic environment are crucial to this role.
This is a great opportunity to work on the cutting edge of selenium water treatment technology as part of our water operations team across our operations! This role will follow an attractive compressed work week with alternating Fridays off. This role requires the flexibility to work a variety of days evenings and weekends for projects at different sites.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Collaborate with others to deliver value and promote sharing of best practices across water operations
- Work with engineering and automation teams on development of test programs and Management of Changes (MOCs)
- Participate in coordinating the MOC schedule
- Execute test programs and MOCs: bench scale mini scale pilot scale and full-scale field trials
- Supervise process changes with Operating Technicians that may ultimately become incorporated into Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Provide documentation of results through formal reports and presentations
- Manage and analyze data and assist with plant data analysis routine reporting and presentation of plant data
- Fill-in for Processing Engineer/Specialist when needed
- Provide support with budgetary tracking and purchasing as needed
- Collaborate with other groups to advance special projects
- Provide supervisory support for some projects
- Support on-boarding contractors and consultants to site for projects
- Act as the subject matter expert and provide technical direction mentorship and training to junior staff in the execution of test programs
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree Engineering Technology or Science specifically mechanical chemical mineral processing or civil/environmental with focus on water treatment or equivalent education and experience in relevant test execution
- Experience with biological water treatment is a strong asset
- Experience with fluid mechanics or automation is a strong asset
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is an asset
- Registration as an Applied Science Technologist such as AScT or CET or similar professional designation is an asset
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
