THE ROLE

Using discretion and sound judgment this role acts as the sales representative for Hong Kong China and Taiwan. The individual will work closely with the Relationship Director for China and Taiwan as well as the Consultant Relationship Manager for Asia ex-Japan. Additionally this role will serve as the Relationship Director for MFSI clients in Hong Kong ensuring the development and maintenance of strong direct client relationships.

The responsibilities include expanding the prospect universe across China Hong Kong and Taiwan as well as acquiring and retaining assets from both new and existing clients in Hong Kong. The individual will collaborate closely with the Distribution Support team based in the Hong Kong office to ensure the effective execution of daily responsibilities while adhering to established processes and procedures.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

Sales (60%)

  • Drives develops and implements the business strategies for Greater China (China Hong Kong and Taiwan).

  • Works with Senior Managing Director of Asia ex Japan and Relationship Director China and Taiwan to develop and implement sales strategies which align with MFS company strategy.

  • Monitors industry trends advises on company product development and develops a long-term strategy for marketing MFS investment management to institutions to achieve sales goals. This will include designing and implementing a business plan every year.

  • To develop relationships and secure business opportunities with prospective institutional clients including but not limited to official institutions insurance companies family offices defined benefit pensions schemes and charities.

  • To achieve the goal of expanding fixed income business.

  • Keeps client informed of products and enhancements within MFS and relevant industry information and developments in financial markets.

  • To be responsible for preparing sales proposals and client meeting presentation materials by liaising and coordinating with internal parties/departments such as RFP team Fund/Product Managers and other related support teams.

  • To work closely with Marketing Team for marketing events to strengthen and promote our company profile.

  • To attend industry events to ensure MFS presence in the industry.

Relationship Management (30%)

  • Acts as primary contact for assigned clients in Hong Kong.

  • Maintains expands and communicates knowledge of all clients needs concerns and overall satisfaction with MFS through frequent contact (direct written and verbal). Provides same services to client consultant as necessary.

  • Retain and gather new assets from Hong Kong clients. Anticipates and develops opportunities to expand and strengthen the relationship.

  • Know clients evolving and changing investment needs and initiate action to capitalize on them. Involves other MFSI personnel as necessary in this process.

  • Anticipates risks to the relationships take steps to protect them and keeps manager appraised.

  • Develops additional executive contacts other than those directly involved in the relationship making the firms expertise on a broad range of subjects available to the client as appropriate.

  • Introduces clients to key MFS personnel to broaden the relationship.

  • Interacts with other MFS departments (Client Service Investment Legal Accounting Compliance) to ensure that client needs are being met at all levels.

  • Work with Asia ex Japan Consultant Relationship Manager to maintain regular contact with consultants in Hong Kong.

Other Responsibilities(10%)

  • Ensure collaborative working relationships between distribution and other departments

  • Market intelligence: Maintain awareness of industry trends and competitive landscape.

  • Maintain proper record keeping on C360 and local system for all sales and business activities.

  • Liaising with colleagues from other offices on client or product matters some of which will happen during Asia evening hours.

  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelors degree. Post-graduate education in a related area and/or CFA preferred.

  • Minimum 8-12 years investment-related or financial experience with at least 5 years experience in direct client-relationship capacity.

  • Demonstrated passion for developing and nurturing client relationships.

  • Expertise in and good knowledge of equity and fixed income markets is required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Solid understanding of the institutional landscape

  • A strong track record in sales in Greater China.

  • Self-confidence but an ability to listen and consider other peoples points of view

  • Collegiate team player experienced and comfortable working in an international operating environment.

  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and a self-starter. Strong work ethic.

  • Demonstrate high level of integrity.

  • Proficient in speaking both English and Mandarin language is a must.
