Summary:
The Manager District Accounting will perform a variety of professional budgeting duties involved in preparing maintaining analyzing verifying and reconciling divisional and capital budgets. The Manager District Accounting has knowledge of fixed capital outlay funding sources and the corresponding eligibility criteria. The Manager District Accounting will perform analysis of expenditure and revenue patterns develop reports assist in the annual audit and year-end closing manage staff and organize and assign duties to accounting staff.
SUPERVISORY EXPECTATIONS: Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction coordination and evaluation of assigned teams. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the districts policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Responsibilities:
Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine situations and reporting transactions.
Coordinates the compilation evaluation and maintenance of the divisional and capital budgets.
Analyzes and compares budget and expenditure data and trends. Continuously monitors and examines financial information to identify areas of concern.
Provides analytical support for problem resolution requests for action research of historical records testing of potential solutions and results analysis.
Ensures the timely entry of all accounting transactions and reporting of all monthly financial information.
Responds to inquiries regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
Establishes cooperative relationships with schools district departments employees and others to effectively resolve questions or concerns with a teamwork approach.
Provides supervision guidance training and support to assigned personnel. Assigns monitors and reviews work; evaluates performance and initiates corrective action if needed.
Provides financial training to new and existing Operations staff as needed and provides ongoing support.
Prepares and oversees the divisional and capital budgets. Completes the Florida Department of Education reports and forms. Supports the budget and forecasting activities for the Five Year Facilities Work Plan.
Prepares special financial reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing account information.
Writes reports creates spreadsheets enters journal entries and uploads data into the enterprise reporting system (ERP).
Complies with federal state and local financial legal requirements.
Maintains proficient computer skills and has a thorough understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience: Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in governmental accounting budgeting or finance with two (2) years of related management or supervisory experience required. Business experience (finance bookkeeping auditing etc.) may substitute for college course work on the basis of two (2) years of experience for each year of required college work.
Language Skills: Reads and interprets general business and professional journals technical procedures or regulations. Writes reports correspondence and manuals. Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public.
Mathematical Skills: Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
