The Registered Nurse (RN) Urgent Care provides timely high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role includes triage assessment treatment coordination and collaboration with providers and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal outcomes.
The RN is expected to utilize strong critical thinking skills work under standing orders when appropriate and manage multiple clinical responsibilities within the urgent care setting.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Triage
Perform patient triage and initial assessments
Collect vital signs medical history and relevant clinical data
Prioritize patient needs and coordinate care delivery
Respond effectively to urgent and emergent situations
Treatment & Procedures
Administer medications (oral topical IM SQ IV push IV infusion)
Initiate and manage IV therapy
Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment
Assist with clinical procedures as needed
Documentation & Communication
Document assessments interventions and patient education
Ensure accurate and timely charting in EMR systems
Communicate patient updates and findings to providers and care teams
Conduct follow-up communication with patients as needed
Care Coordination
Facilitate referrals to internal and external healthcare services
Track referral progress and outcomes
Coordinate with case managers and support staff
Promote continuity of care across services
Safety & Operations
Maintain a clean safe and organized clinical environment
Monitor and manage supplies and equipment inventory
Report hazards or equipment issues promptly
Follow infection control and safety protocols
Team Collaboration
Collaborate with RNs LPNs clinical assistants and providers
Participate in process improvement initiatives
Support training and development of team members
Assist with emergency response and triage activities
Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (NCLEX eligible)
High school diploma or equivalent required
Licensure
Active RN license (state license or compact license required)
Must obtain state licensure prior to start (if applicable)
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required or preferred per role)
Completion of required clinical and high-risk competencies within designated timeframes
Experience
Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience
At least 1 year of ambulatory or urgent care experience preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strong triage and critical thinking skills
Ability to respond to emergencies and perform life-saving procedures
Ability to multitask in high-volume environments
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Proficiency with EMR systems
Strong patient education and counseling abilities
