Position Summary
These responsibilities will be carried out in alignment with the goals mission and policies of the YMCA of the East Bay. The Early Childhood Education Coach supports teaching staff through coaching and professional development that aligns with Head Start Program Performance Standards (45 CFR 1302) and the Head Start Coaching Companion. Working collaboratively with Center Directors consultants and staff across all service areas the Early Childhood Education Coach helps ensure the delivery of a high-quality early childhood education program.

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in child development Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Three years experience as a classroom teacher in Early Childhood Programs and experience in state subsidized and/or Early/Head Start setting is preferred
- Experience working with children and families with diverse cultural linguistic and economic backgrounds.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
- Criminal record clearance and health requirements that include physical exam TB and immunizations
Specific Essential Function from the Job Description for this role
- Design and deliver high-quality programming that achieves educational administrative and service delivery goals.
- Observe classrooms and collect data using research-based tools. Design training coaching and technical assistance based on data and ongoing monitoring.
- Identify staff who need coaching through observation and data collection.
- Implement a model of Practice Based Coaching designed to support individuals and teams in meeting goals and utilizing best classroom practices.
- Participate in the design and implementation of program quality improvement initiatives.
- Work with Managers Coordinators and Center Directors to support Teaching staff in implementing agency School Readiness Goals.
- Coach staff in classroom documentation including lesson planning observation screening assessment and analysis.
- Support curriculum implementation with fidelity in collaboration with the Curriculum Specialist.
- Use CLASS DRDP Practice Based Coaching and other assessment tools to guide coaching.
- Apply culturally and linguistically responsive practices when coaching staff and supporting classroom environments.
- Participate in meetings classes and professional growth trainings for professional growth.
- Maintain effective relationships with staff through face-to-face conversations and written communication.
- Participate with other team members to collaborate regarding classroom and center needs.
- Stay current on national developments in ECE inclusion coaching and mental health by attending conferences workshops/seminars meetings; communicating appropriate information to staff providers families Board Policy Council and community partners.
- Special projects and other duties assigned.
Measure effectiveness
This position has a primary impact on the operations of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program. Therefore the effectiveness of the fulfillment of this position should be measured by:
- Knowledge of Head Start/Early Head Start program procedures.
- The sound administration of systems and records that are organized up-to-date and accurate.
- Successful integration of technology into the program related to program goals.
- A positive point of contact for staff.
- Demonstrates improvement in teaching practices over time.
- Effective use of child outcome data to guide instruction.
- Accurate and timely documentation of coaching cycles through the use of coaching logs.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Sufficient strength agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations
- Must be able to work on a computer for an extended period
- Ability to lift to 30 pounds
- Must be able to travel locally for meetings training and special events
- Valid drivers license and current auto insurance with the ability to travel frequently to YMCA sites as needed.
