Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Casual Front Counter Clerk to join our Financial Services Team on a casual basis.
Note that this advertisement is for casual employment. Casual employees are scheduled on an as-needed basis to provide relief for leaves vacations and peak periods; there are no guaranteed hours or schedules.
Front Counter Clerks are on the front lines as the key point of contact between the public and the City to provide customer service and find creative ways to solve challenges. As a casual Front Counter Clerk you work with customers to answer inquiries guide people through processes fill out forms take debit and cash payments balance daily transactions. You are focused on the details with strong arithmetic and typing skills and take the time to listen so that you can deliver what is most helpful for the customer.
Front Counter Clerks also provide administrative and clerical support for our team and other internal customers by keeping records and files entering and retrieving data to/from computerized information systems and ensuring all records are accurate and complete.
As a casual Front Counter Clerk you will also provide help to maintain the office environment and lunchroom by ensuring common spaces are clean and tidy checking meeting rooms for tidiness maintaining the staff telephone list so that it is always accurate contacting vendors ordering and organizing stationery and supplies in the office and ensuring paper and toner is stocked and office equipment is in working order.
Qualifications :
- Ideally you have had two (2) years of recent related experience providing customer service completing point-of-sale transactions and working in an office environment.
- You have working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word) and have worked with a variety of office equipment and processes.
- Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
- You are able to provide professional patient attentive and courteous customer service to internal and external customers by communicating clearly and with empathy demonstrating active listening and professionalism.
- Handle sensitive private and confidential information with tact and discretion.
- Stay calm resolve conflict and de-escalate hectic or difficult situations.
- Work independently and collaborate with the greater team.
- Problem-solving skills with a talent for finding creative and resourceful solutions.
- Time management skills with effective methods to remain organized prioritize and multi-task.
For new hires and for those working in designated positions of trust including those working directly with vulnerable persons employment is conditional on a satisfactory police information check.
