Overnight Hotel Security
Job Summary
$24.50 hourly
As part of our Overnight Security team you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our guests colleagues and property during the night hours.
Through vigilant monitoring independent decision-making and calm confident response you help create a secure and restful environment where guests can truly unwind and our team can operate with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Nighttime Safety & Security Monitoring
- Conduct regular overnight foot patrols throughout the hotel staff accommodations and surrounding property.
- Monitor security systems alarms and surveillance cameras to proactively identify concerns.
- Ensure all access points doors and restricted areas are secured throughout the night.
- Observe and address safety hazards or irregularities in a timely manner.
Overnight Emergency Response
- Respond promptly and professionally to overnight incidents including fire alarms disturbances or medical situations.
- Act as the primary on-site responder during night hours until external emergency services arrive.
- Support evacuation procedures and ensure guest and colleague safety during emergencies.
- Maintain calm clear communication in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.
Incident Reporting & Documentation
- Complete detailed and accurate overnight reports including incidents patrol logs and observations.
- Document and follow up on any disturbances guest concerns or operational issues.
- Support investigations and provide clear handovers to the daytime team.
Guest & Property Support (Overnight)
- Provide assistance to guests and colleagues with safety concerns directions or requests during overnight hours.
- Maintain a visible and reassuring presence throughout the property.
- Collaborate with Night Audit and other overnight colleagues to support smooth operations.
Qualifications :
What You Bring
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Current Alberta Security License issued under the Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers license with a drivers abstract showing no more than three demerits.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and stay focused during overnight hours.
- Calm composed approach in emergency or high-pressure situations.
- Strong written communication skills for report writing.
Bonus if You Bring
Previous overnight security experience ideally in a hotel or resort setting.
Experience working night shifts or in independent roles.
Training in law enforcement security firefighting or emergency medical services.
Familiarity with surveillance systems alarms and access control technology.
Strong conflict resolution and guest service skills.

Physical Demands
Significant standing and walking for extended periods.
Frequent sitting and occasional use of a computer for monitoring systems and writing reports.
Frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 22 lbs / 10 kg.
Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing between 50 and 100 lbs / 23 to 45 kg.
Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.
Ability to work rotating shifts including nights weekends and holidays.
Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
