Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and technically strong PLC Programmer (m/f/d) to lead and contribute to the development of a company-wide Technical Automation Standard based on Beckhoff TwinCAT 3. This is a greenfield opportunity: you will define reusable software architecture establish coding conventions build structured function block libraries and create the foundation for consistent maintainable automation software across all production programmes from BIW automotive lines to aerospace assembly systems.

Working within a cross-functional engineering team and in close collaboration with mechanical electrical and commissioning engineers as well as OEM representatives you will set the standard by which future automation projects are developed reviewed and handed over.

  • Development of Automation Standards: Design and document a comprehensive Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 standard including software architecture naming conventions and reusable IEC 61131-3 library structures.

  • HMI & Visualization Framework: Establish templates for TcHMI / HTML5 interfaces including alarm management and operator guidelines ensuring alignment with OEM-specific standards (e.g. Airbus VW Stellantis).

  • PLC Programming & Commissioning: Develop test and commission PLC programs for Body-in-White (BIW) cells integrating robotics (KUKA/Fanuc) motion control (NC/CNC) and safety circuits.

  • System Integration & Field Support: Manage EtherCAT and fieldbus configurations conduct Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT) and provide on-site troubleshooting during production ramp-up.

  • Standardization & Quality Assurance: Lead internal training sessions perform structured code reviews to ensure compliance and manage version control (Git) for all software libraries.

  • Innovation & Technical Consulting: Evaluate emerging TwinCAT features (AI Digital Twin) and support the Global Quotation Team with technical scopes and effort estimations for RFQ responses.


Qualifications :

  • Educational Background & Experience: A degree in Electrical Automation or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on PLC programming experience in an industrial environment.

  • Expert-Level TwinCAT 3 Mastery: Deep technical expertise in Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 (ST FBD SFC) and proven experience in designing reusable modular software architectures compliant with IEC 61131-3.

  • Hardware & Robot Integration: Extensive knowledge of fieldbus systems (EtherCAT Profinet Profibus) and the ability to integrate robot controllers (KUKA Fanuc) and motion control systems (NC/CNC).

  • Safety & Commissioning Expertise: Proficiency in safety PLC systems (TwinSAFE Pilz SICK) and a track record of successful hands-on commissioning including FAT/SAT and axis tuning.

  • Standards & Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with aerospace (Airbus OMR) or automotive (VW Stellantis) automation standards including knowledge of CE marking and functional safety (ISO 13849).

  • Soft Skills & Communication: A structured detail-oriented thinker with strong communication skills in English (Fluent) and German (Professional) capable of managing version control (Git) and international documentation.
