Role Description

The Accounting Officer is an entry-level role that supports the Controller with a range of bookkeeping and accounting functions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a strong foundation in accounting while gaining hands-on experience in a professional setting.

This is a full-time position based in Yellowknife NT.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with accounts payable coding and data entry in QuickBooks
• Manage and reconcile corporate card transactions
• Maintain and update financial data using Excel and/or Google Sheets
• Respond to general account inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
• Follow up with clients regarding outstanding and past-due invoices
• Support payroll processing activities
• Assist with tax filings and audit preparation
• Maintain organized financial records and ensure proper documentation for compliance
• Provide backup reception coverage as needed
• Perform other administrative and accounting duties as required

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in accounting or pursuit of an accounting designation is preferred
• Experience with accounts payable (AP) and/or accounts receivable (AR) is an asset
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
