Job Summary

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK

To efficiently supervise all staff members in the preparation of a quality product that meets the School Nutrition requirements at minimal costs. To efficiently complete all paper work required by the Food Service office. To build a good relationship with staff students and faculty.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS

The minimum performance expectations include but are not limited to the following functions/tasks:

  • Keep accurate time sheets for employees.
  • Keep accurate sick/personal leave posted.
  • Submit complete and accurate sick/personal leave forms.
  • Adhere to agreed procedure for lunch ticket distribution.
  • Keep up to date records of withdrawals and new student on free/reduced lunch.
  • Keep accurate SL12 forms.
  • Count daily lunch receipts and make accurate bank deposits.
  • Keep daily production record.
  • Use standardized recipes.
  • Use Food Buying Guide daily in food preparation.
  • Accurately forecasts food preparation to meet daily lunch needs.
  • Project correct quantity of food to be ordered weekly.
  • See that portion control is strictly adhered to.
  • Post specific job distribution assignments daily.
  • Employ a systematic rotation system of food inventories.
  • Keep perpetual inventory book accurate and up-to-date.
  • Make accurate monthly inventory.
  • Maintain sanitary and safe kitchen conditions.
  • Make efficient usage of all personnel.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The efficiency and atmosphere of the School Nutrition Program depends upon certain personal qualities of the Food Service Manager. These qualities include leadership organizational and supervisory abilities compatibility and congeniality with staff students and teachers initiative interest and total support for a successful program. Maintain good working relationships with all employees and the public. Communicate openly and effectively with students parents community patrons staff and administration as a positive representative of Culpeper County School system.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Must obtain ServSafe certification within 6 months of hire date;
  • Or equivalent training education and/or experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Duties performed typically in the central office and throughout the division. Frequent walking standing stooping lifting up to approximately 40 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds may be required. Other limited physical activities are required. Travel to schools throughout the division and central office is required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members administrators and parents is required. Contact with parents by phone and in person is necessary. Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all CCPS employees. To ensure adequate staffing positive employee morale and to meet expected productivity standards throughout the organization employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.

EVALUATION

The supervisor will evaluate performance on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.
