Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of and compliance with USP 795 and 800 standards and other regulatory requirements which allow safe and accurate preparation and/or compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous nonsterile products (both oral and topical) including reconstitution when applicable.
- Completes projects and assignments such as topic discussions journal clubs clinical rotations research projects presentations professional development competitions and simulation center participation.
- Dispenses medication and provides counsel on the medication. Manages dispensing information through the computer system and patient profile. Reviews patient profiles for possible medication complications before dispensing and takes appropriate action to correct problems. Complies with OBRA-90 regulations.
- Extemporaneously compounds medications which are not commercially available (i.e. suspensions ointments etc.).
- Accepts prescriptions establishes billing/patient charge documents patients allergies correctly interprets and enters outpatient prescription into the computer.
Education Requirement:
Actively enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy required.
Licensure Requirement:
Eligible for a State Board of Pharmacy Intern License required.
Skills:
Must demonstrate ongoing Outpatient Pharmacy Technician I competencies knowledge and skills minimally.
