Introduction
Are you passionate about identifying technology and cybersecurity needs in the market and bridging them with research Then this position is for you! The Computer Science and Mathematics Department of the Eindhoven University of Technology is looking for an experienced and energetic Business Developer to help us shape commercial offerings in the domain of managed detection and response (MDR) and cyber threat intelligence (CTI) and bring them to market.
The TU/e Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and JADS in s-Hertogenbosch are jointly developing CTILab laboratory designated to translate cutting-edge research in cybersecurity cyber monitoring and threat intelligence into market-ready solutions.
CTILab is being built in close collaboration with the Eindhoven Security Hub Security Operations Center (ESH-SOC) which was also established and is operated by TU/e M&CS. ESH-SOC is a professional SOC that integrates the latest research in threat analysis into real-world monitoring operations. Its success serves as the foundation for the CTILab initiative.
Building on the infrastructure data feeds and expertise of both ESH-SOC and ongoing TU/e research CTILab aims to deliver tailored threat intelligence advanced monitoring services and lifelong learning programs in threat detection and cyber threat landscape this role your mission is to shape together with the department CTILab and ESH the market offerings of CTILab and bring those offerings to market.
Job Description
We are therefore looking for a business developer who will support a wide range of activities to expand our current customer base understand their requirements and needs in terms of cybersecurity services collect market intelligence and help CTILab and ESH tailor their value proposition to those market needs. From these you will then be responsible to position ourselves in the market as a provider for those products and services.
In this position you will maintain a close relationship with R&D on threat intelligence and its applications for cybersecurity.
Your primary goals:
- Generating new market leads for CTILab and ESH and converting these into business-to-business contracts.
- Contribute to the shaping of CTILab and ESHs offering and positioning on the market through market intelligence.
- Position CTILab and ESH in the cybersecurity market as a provider of tailored cybersecurity monitoring solutions threat intelligence and know-how.
- Identify and create opportunities for the commercial exploitation of services and capabilities within CTILab and ESH.
- Identify and create opportunities for the development and offering of life-long-learning activities around threat intelligence and security monitoring operations.
In addition to these goals the role should also:
- Identify and create new opportunities for outreach and engagement with Dutch society and enterprises at large.
- Identify funding and/or collaboration opportunities to further strengthen the research and real-world impact of the CTILab/ESH proposition.
In this role you will contribute to the ambition of the Beethoven program to educate top talent and strengthen research across the fields of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Job Requirements
- Research oriented. You have a Masters degree or PhD or otherwise an affinity and interest in research and technological advancements.
- Cybersecurity-focused. You have professional experience in the cybersecurity domain.
- Experienced. You have previous experience in business development sales or experience with bringing technological products to market. You have experience with market intelligence to identify customer needs.
- Opportunity-driven. You are proactive and always look for opportunities to build connections and propose solutions to emerging needs.
- Result-oriented. You want to achieve concrete results in terms of market presence and realized opportunities.
- Networker. This position requires knowledge about the market in a broad sense and you have the professional network including cybersecurity decision-makers in SMEs and/or larger organizations.
- Diversified. Profiles with access to multiple market domains such as among others healthcare public institutions technological firms and manufacturing are preferred but not required.
- Ambitious. You want to grow a strong network of companies in different sectors and governmental organizations that are or can be interested in computer security-related services.
- Proactive. You are proactive in bringing ideas to the table and tailoring existent business propositions and know-how to the market needs.
- Strong communicator. You have strong communication skills and can communicate clearly to different stakeholders (both English and Dutch are required).
- Active listener. You are an active listener and have strong interpersonal skills.

- This is a one-year contract with the goal of converting it to a permanent position after satisfactory performance the first year.

The Eindhoven Security Hub - Security Operations Center (ESH-SOC).
The TU/e and its industrial partners have joined forces in the Eindhoven Security Hub to develop a smarter leaner managed detection and response solution that provides an answer to the increased security and monitoring needs of society in general and of small and medium enterprises.
The ESH-SOC adopts cutting-edge technology (including machine learning and deep-learning based solutions) to address the needs of a broader range of business including e.g. those adopting Industrial Control Systems and IoT technology. Last but not least the ESH-SOC is a testbed for pioneering research in intrusion detection prevention and response.
The SOC is responsible for the availability confidentiality and integrity of important often privacy-sensitive data with which the ESH-SOC works. To guarantee security in a time of cybercrime open digital communication and online information exchange the SOC is committed daily to detecting analyzing and dealing with security notifications.
