Dimensional Engineer- Factory Zero

Work Arrangement:
Position requires an employee to be onsite on a full-time basis.

The Role:
As the Dimensional engineer you will be expected to work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision. The dimensional engineer has responsibility for managing vehicle fit/finish based on key process metrics from customer feedback; GCA & A/B/C/FVS metrics. This individual should be skilled in equipment/tooling alternatives sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel material machines and facilities necessary for the production of parts. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where creativity and initiative are exercised as well as independent judgment.

What Youll Do:

• Promotes educates communicates and follows up on safety initiatives.
• Knowledge of Global Manufacturing Systems(GMS)
• Monitor body Six Pillars of quality performance inside and outside the department using voice of customer metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of quality control procedures manufacturing processesand management systems as they relate to production operations in a BIQ 4 plant.
• Support fast response and Six Pillars of quality process reviews.
• Support GCA DRR FTQ DRL and CPIT problem resolution activities including sufficiency planning and ensure proper communication between internal and external stake holders
• Execute Six Pillars of quality process and required process control plans to meet BIQ IV
• Manage process control plan changes and feedback into PQRS
• Provide day to day technical direction to the dimensional supporting staff
• Keep all metrology tooling (including Leica Scanning Vision Laser Gage Faro checking fixtures ITAC & ETAC fixtures Scan Box; Gap & Flush system etc.) in proper working order per specified standards to maintain PCP compliance and reduce measurement system error
• Support documented quality check plan and supervise personnel to ensure compliance
• Maintain a shim and process change log for all tooling
• Ensure vision alarms are in place and functioning with corrective action and response plans when alarms are generated
• Maintain Vision to Leica Scanning correlation and dimensional data flow (through the dimensional data manager) to ensure integral data is being displayed in appropriate sites (CDIS GDIS) and postings to Data Wall

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Dimensional & Technical Expertise

• Solid understanding of GD&T principles and vehicle body build processes.
• Familiarity with CAD software and ability to interpret dimensional data.
• Working knowledge of A B C metrics and variation analysis tools.

Collaboration & Problem Solving

• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and contribute to shared goals.
• Experience with root cause analysis and Practical Problem Solving (PPS).
• Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Communication & Mentorship

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to mentor and train.

Education & Experience

• Bachelors degree in engineering manufacturing or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 13 years of experience in automotive manufacturing or dimensional engineering preferred.

• Experience supporting new vehicle program launches.
• Understanding of Body Shop dimensional systems and their impact on downstream operations.
• Familiarity with supplier dimensional validation and build support.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor technical roles and support team development.
• Comfort navigating CAD systems and dimensional data analysis tools.
