Job Description
30% - Provide individual psychotherapy using cognitive behavioral and other empirically supported treatment modalities. Address a broad range of mental health concerns including anxiety depression adjustment issues substance use eating disorders OCD bipolar disorder and more. Document all clinical encounters and monitor patient progress.
20% - Direct and lead the Mental Health First Aid Training Program at MUSC. Coordinate scheduling deliver training and collaborate with colleges and student resource areas. Share MUSC and Charleston-area resources and best practices for recognizing and responding to mental health concerns. Evaluate program outcomes and ensure high-quality skills-based training for students faculty and staff.
20% - Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications for identified mental health conditions. Provide thorough patient education regarding indications risks benefits alternatives and expected outcomes. Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans including psychotherapy medication management laboratory testing and referrals as appropriate.
20% - Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations including diagnostic assessment medical and mental health history symptom review and functional impact. Identify treatment goals and collaborate with patients to establish effective care plans.
10% - Participate in group supervision case consultation orientation activities and educational presentations. Provide supervision to unlicensed trainees as appropriate. Offer consultation to MUSC deans faculty and program staff regarding student mental health concerns.
