Role: Supplier Quality & Development Engineer

Location: Wenzhou China (regional travel required)

Role Overview

Responsible for supplier quality management and development within the China supply chain (with a focus on Wenzhou) ensuring that key machined valve components meet technical requirements maintain consistent quality and are delivered on time. This role requires frequent on-site engagement with suppliers to drive process optimisation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Visit and work on-site with suppliers to assess the stability and control of manufacturing processes

• Oversee machining forging and welding processes to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications

• Conduct product inspections and witness key quality activities (e.g. First Article Inspection material testing)

• Analyse quality issues and drive corrective and preventive actions with suppliers

• Support suppliers in improving manufacturing processes increasing capability and reducing defect rates

• Perform supplier quality audits and continuously monitor supplier performance

• Collect and analyse quality data and provide regular reports to Quality and Purchasing teams

• Support supply chain activities related to delivery and inspection requirements

Candidate Requirements

• Background in mechanical manufacturing or a related discipline (diploma or equivalent experience)

• 10 years experience in machining or precision manufacturing

• Strong understanding of machining processes with hands-on problem-solving ability

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

• Familiarity with forging heat treatment and non-destructive testing (UT PT MT)

• Experience with quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9001)

• Proficient in the use of inspection tools (callipers micrometres height gauges etc.) and measurement equipment

• Strong communication and coordination skills with experience working with suppliers

• Fluent in both Mandarin and English (written and spoken)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with valve components or similar sector

• Familiarity with CMM FARO or similar inspection equipment

• Experience in supplier development or quality improvement projects

Additional Information

Based in Wenzhou with travel across East China (e.g. Suzhou Shanghai Zhejiang)
