Role Overview

The Freight Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing endtoend freight forwarding operations within Singapore ensuring operational excellence regulatory compliance and consistent service delivery aligned with global standards.

This role partners closely with regional and global stakeholders to drive operational efficiency cost optimization and continuous improvement while leading and developing a highperforming operations team.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Lead and oversee daily freight forwarding operations across air & ocean

  • Ensure efficient execution of import export cross-border and transshipment shipments

  • Maintain full compliance with Singapore Customs and international trade regulations

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of shipping and customs documentation (BL AWB permits COO invoices packing lists)

  • Act as escalation point for operational issues service failures and customer escalations

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure adherence to company SOPs ISO standards and global compliance frameworks

  • Manage DG controlled cargo and special handling shipments in line with regulations

  • Support internal and external audits and drive corrective actions

People Leadership

  • Lead coach and develop the freight operations team to meet performance and quality targets

  • Drive a culture of accountability safety and continuous improvement

  • Manage resource planning performance reviews and succession planning

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor and analyze KPIs including service level productivity cost and quality metrics

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement operational efficiencies

  • Collaborate with regional teams on standardization and best practices

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers airlines shipping lines hauliers and vendors

  • Work crossfunctionally with Sales Customer Service Finance and IT teams

  • Support commercial objectives by enabling reliable and scalable operations

Required Qualifications & Experience

Experience

  • 812 years of experience in freight forwarding operations

  • Minimum 46 years in an operations management or supervisory role

  • Proven experience in an MNC freight forwarder or global logistics organization

  • Strong exposure to Singapores freight forwarding ecosystem and regulatory environment

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong operational knowledge of air freight forwarding

  • Indepth understanding of Singapore Customs TradeNet and permit processing

  • Hands-on experience with forwarder systems (e.g. CargoWise TMS ERP)

  • Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in Excel and operational reporting

Leadership & Behavioral Competencies

  • Proven people leadership and team development capabilities

  • Strong decisionmaking and problemsolving skills in fastpaced environments

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Customercentric mindset with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to operate effectively within a matrix and regional structure
