FWS Student Assistant Provost
Job Summary
The Academic Planning Student Assistant position will provide administrative support to the Undergraduate Council (UGC) and the General Education Council (GEC). They will also serve as a type editor for the undergraduate catalog. This role requires a detailoriented student with strong communication organizational and editorial skills. The student worker will assist with meeting preparation documentation faculty communications and catalog editing.
Responsibilities
Undergraduate Council (UGC) and General Education Council (GEC) Support
- Schedule council meetings in collaboration with the Council Chairs
- Prepare meeting agendas for the Undergraduate Council and General Education Council.
- Attend meetings and accurately take minutes.
- Distribute agendas minutes and related materials to council members.
- Assist in collecting organizing and tracking course and program proposals.
- Communicate professionally with faculty and staff regarding council processes and required actions.
Undergraduate Catalog Type Editing
- Serve as a type editor for the undergraduate catalog.
- Review and edit catalog entries for accuracy clarity and consistency.
- Ensure compliance with editorial standards formatting guidelines and policy requirements.
- Assist with tracking catalog updates and coordinating revisions with academic units.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to create wellstructured agendas and take clear accurate minutes.
- Comfortable interacting with faculty and staff in a professional manner.
- Excellent attention to detail particularly for proofreading and editing.
- Familiarity with academic policy or catalog content (preferred but not required).
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
- Applicant must have a current Federal Work Study (FWS) and Summer Work Study (SWS) award for the current academic year in order to apply for this position. Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with document editing or publishing systems.
- Knowledge of undergraduate curriculum or catalog processes.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Teams.
