Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Enrollment and Regional Engagement the Regional Admission Manager Northern California plays a critical role in achieving the colleges enrollment goals by leading strategic recruitment and outreach efforts within a designated geographic region. Based in Northern California this position is primarily responsible for the Greater Bay Area of San Francisco and surrounding counties. The Regional Admission Manager oversees and manages all aspects of the recruitment and admissions process within the assigned region exercising professional judgement and high degree of autonomy. Responsibilities include conducting high school visits representing the College at college fairs and designing and executing recruitment events that strengthen the Colleges presence and visibility in the region. Serving as the primary point of contact the Regional Admission Manager builds and sustains strong relationships with prospective students families high school counselors and community partners. The Regional Admission Manager provides expert guidance throughout the college search and application process ensuring a high quality and personalized experience for prospective applications. The Regional Admission Manager is responsible for the application review and evaluation contributing to the overall admission process. The Regional Admission Manager leads the coordination and delivery of virtual programming for the Office of Admission and contributes to the development implementation and assessment of regional recruitment strategies. Serving as a key point of contact between the college and regional stakeholders the Regional Admission Manager uses data and local insights to guide outreach efforts and support enrollment goals. This position requires extensive travel throughout Northern California with occasional travel to other areas in the Western U.S.

Job Duties

  • 40% - Manage recruitment territory in Northern California with a focus on the Bay Area and occasional out-of-state travel to support broader enrollment initiatives. Plan and travel within the region to conduct high school visits attend college fairs and host recruitment events. Utilize admission systems and data to identify target student populations support outreach and communication efforts and generate data-driven reports to assess territory performance and inform strategic planning. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Evaluate first-year and transfer applications. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Cultivate expand and strategically manage relationships with school counselors community-based organizations independent counselors and professional organizations to enhance the colleges visibility and support long-term enrollment goals. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Lead the planning coordination and strategic delivery of virtual information sessions that support recruitment the application process yield efforts and communications for incoming students ensuring alignment with the enrollment goals. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Travel to Occidentals campus several times each year to participate in professional development support on-campus admission events and programming and actively collaborate with colleagues on regional recruitment strategies. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Support the planning and lead the execution of events for admitted students and their families ensuring a positive experience and alignment with institutional goals. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in related field to position duties or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of professional experience in college admissions focusing in residential liberal arts college.
  • Must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area (within 20 minutes drive of I-280 or I-880) and be available for extensive travel.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking cultural competency confidence in public speaking strong written communication skills attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for interacting with students and families from diverse backgrounds strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to decision-making along with the ability to work autonomously and a commitment to customer service.
  • Demonstrate a dedication to a residential liberal arts education and a commitment to diversity equity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of effective communication practices including public speaking experience.
  • Ability to always uphold institutional confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team as well as independently.
  • Ability to travel in and out of state.
  • Valid California Drivers License and ability to meet the Colleges Driving Policy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel PowerPoint) Google drives/folders/forms Adobe Acrobat Web Editing and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience recruiting in the San Francisco Bay area. Experience reviewing first-year applicants at a highly selective institution.

EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $80000/yr-$90000/yr

If you are offered this position at Occidental College your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills education experience and/or geographic addition to those factors Occidental complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
