Job Description:

Position Overview

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for delivering individualized instruction and support to middle school students with diverse learning needs. This role includes providing both push-in and pull-out services ensuring students receive appropriate accommodations and achieve academic success in alignment with state standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop implement and monitorIndividualized Education Programs (IEPs)for assigned students
• Providepush-in and pull-out instructional servicesbased on student needs
• Adapt and modify curriculum inELA and/or Mathto support diverse learners
• Conduct ongoingassessments and progress monitoring maintaining accurate documentation
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure effective inclusion strategies
• Communicate regularly withparents/guardiansregarding student progress and goals
• Implement classroom and behavioral management strategies to support student success
• Support studentssocial emotional and academic development
• Participate in IEP meetings team meetings and professional development sessions
• Ensure compliance withstate and federal special education regulations
• Maintain a structured inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Required Qualifications

• ValidNew Jersey DOE Instructional License
• Certification inMiddle School Special Education (SPED)
• Highly Qualified status inELA and/or Math
• Strong knowledge of special education laws instructional strategies and interventions

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with middle school students
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to differentiate instruction effectively
• Experience with push-in/pull-out service models
