Job Description:
Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher is responsible for delivering individualized instruction and support to middle school students with diverse learning needs. This role includes providing both push-in and pull-out services ensuring students receive appropriate accommodations and achieve academic success in alignment with state standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop implement and monitorIndividualized Education Programs (IEPs)for assigned students
- Providepush-in and pull-out instructional servicesbased on student needs
- Adapt and modify curriculum inELA and/or Mathto support diverse learners
- Conduct ongoingassessments and progress monitoring maintaining accurate documentation
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure effective inclusion strategies
- Communicate regularly withparents/guardiansregarding student progress and goals
- Implement classroom and behavioral management strategies to support student success
- Support studentssocial emotional and academic development
- Participate in IEP meetings team meetings and professional development sessions
- Ensure compliance withstate and federal special education regulations
- Maintain a structured inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Required Qualifications
- ValidNew Jersey DOE Instructional License
- Certification inMiddle School Special Education (SPED)
- Highly Qualified status inELA and/or Math
- Strong knowledge of special education laws instructional strategies and interventions
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with middle school students
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction effectively
- Experience with push-in/pull-out service models
