Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher is responsible for delivering individualized instruction and support to middle school students with diverse learning needs. This role includes providing both push-in and pull-out services ensuring students receive appropriate accommodations and achieve academic success in alignment with state standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop implement and monitorIndividualized Education Programs (IEPs)for assigned students
Providepush-in and pull-out instructional servicesbased on student needs
Adapt and modify curriculum inELA and/or Mathto support diverse learners
Conduct ongoingassessments and progress monitoring maintaining accurate documentation
Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure effective inclusion strategies
Communicate regularly withparents/guardiansregarding student progress and goals
Implement classroom and behavioral management strategies to support student success
Support studentssocial emotional and academic development
Participate in IEP meetings team meetings and professional development sessions
Ensure compliance withstate and federal special education regulations
Maintain a structured inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Required Qualifications
ValidNew Jersey DOE Instructional License
Certification inMiddle School Special Education (SPED)
Highly Qualified status inELA and/or Math
Strong knowledge of special education laws instructional strategies and interventions
Preferred Skills
Experience working with middle school students
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to differentiate instruction effectively
Experience with push-in/pull-out service models
