Job Summary
The Assistant Finance Manager will support the finance function in managing project accounting and financial reporting. This role acts as a key liaison between project operations and the finance team ensuring accurate cost tracking revenue recognition and compliance with statutory requirements to support the companys growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation and review of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) Companies Act 2016 Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements and applicable tax/SST regulations.
- Project Accounting: Support project costing monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP) and assist in revenue recognition under the percentage-of-completion (POC) method.
- Cost Control: Review subcontractor claims and progress billings ensuring accurate cost allocation and contributing to margin monitoring.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as a contact point for auditors tax agents company secretaries and relevant authorities to facilitate smooth compliance.
- Audit Support: Assist in coordinating annual audits and quarterly reviews to ensure timely completion with minimal findings.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Support annual budgeting prepare financial projections and assist in cash flow monitoring to optimize liquidity.
- Management Reporting: Provide variance analysis and ad-hoc financial reports to aid senior management in decision-making.
- Process Enhancement: Help refine internal control procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reduce risk across projects.
- Feasibility & Analysis: Provide financial insights and data for new project feasibility studies and land acquisition proposals.
Requirements
- Education: Professional qualification (ACCA/CPA/MICPA/MIA) or Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
- Experience: 36 years of experience preferably in Property Development or Construction with exposure to project accounting and financial reporting.
- Technical Skills: Understanding of MFRS (particularly property development) project costing and reporting standards for listed companies.
- Attributes: Strong analytical ability detail-oriented and capable of meeting deadlines under pressure.
- Communication: Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia able to effectively liaise with site teams and corporate management.
