Job Summary

Subject to formal establishment a vacancy may arise for a Wg Cdr (Aircrew Pilot (Any) WSO (Any) or Air & Space Ops (Any)) SO1 OPTIMA at RAF Waddington on Additional Duties Commitment (180) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 07 September 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status and formal establishment.

As SO1 OPTIMA/SAPCO you are responsible to Air Cap Futures Hd through Air Cap futures FD AH to successfully deliver Proj OPTIMA and support the research to capability function of RAF Special Access Programme (SAP).

Ensure the successful delivery of Proj OPTIMA lines of effort and develop new and maintain current relations with key US personnel at Nellis AFB.
Drive Proj OPTIMA requirements to ensure UK pers and capability are fully integrated into the USAF Joint Integrated Test & Training Center (JITTC-N) Digital Test & Training Range (DTTR) and Air Battle Management System (ABMS) within the Shadow Operations Center (ShOC-N) at Nellis AFB.
Establish linkages between the various Operational Analysis communities at Nellis AFB Edwards AFB and JSE (Pax River) for future UK test and trg events including but not limited to F35 E7 Typhoon RJ P8 ACP and FCAS.
Develop and maintain the security constructs as defined in the Proj OPTIMA paper of the RAF HQ and capabilities integrated within the JITTC-N DTTR-N and ShOC-N at Nellis AFB.
Engage with coalition partners to maximise opportunities realised through Proj OPTIMA.
Maintain a long-term view of the Air Cap SAP capability delivery priorities and work closely with coalition organisations to identify new SAP demand signals.
Lead cross-CPG SAP activity on behalf of AH Futures FD to sponsor RAF SAP prototyping and product development. Work with CTO RCO and cross-Government organisations to manage the transitions from the research world to prototyping and from product into Capability Delivery.
Support the development and maturation of RAF SAPCO governance processes and structures.
Deputise for RAF Assistant SAPCO during periods of absence.
