Summary:
Seeking a certified music teacher with strong expertise in choral methodologies to lead and oversee the choral curriculum. The candidate will also teach general music as needed and coordinate afterschool vocal music programming. The ideal candidate demonstrates knowledge of diverse musical repertoire effective rehearsal techniques performance proficiency and piano skills. The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator and strong leader with exceptional skills in conducting performance and music analysis. This role requires artistic vision and the administrative capacity to lead sustain and grow an already vibrant choral music program while collaborating with key performing arts staff to support school events and performances.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
Appropriate DESE teaching license including SEI endorsement
Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to use technology effectively
Experience directing choral ensembles
Ability to present evening concerts and support students auditioning/participating at regional festivals
Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with numerous building stakeholders
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To):
Oversee administrative functions of choral program
Select music for classes concerts and events
Cooperatively collaborate on calendar of events
Collaborate on musical theatre production
Oversee extra-curricular vocal personnel
Maintain choral music library
Maintain equipment/instrument inventory
Utilize educational music technology
Coordinate recording and sound technology
Plan and executive music field trips and tours
Oversee student choral organizations
Coordinate concerts rehearsals stage set-up PR and programs
Prepare and maintain budgets for supplies professional/technical services and capital equipment
Provide student performances for various school and community events
Coordinate with parent volunteers: or with a choral emphasis; state teaching license
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This role involves moving and installing technology equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
This role requires the use of ladders and specialized tools to install and mount network phone and a/v equipment and to install cabling under raised floors above suspended ceilings and in crawl spaces.
This role requires driving between building locations throughout the City of Newton - access to reliable transportation throughout the day is required.
