About the team
The Data & Analytics team drives Kinaxis transformation into a data-driven organization. By designing modernizing and governing scalable data ecosystems we ensure reliable high-quality and accessible data that empowers decision-making across the company. Our work spans data engineering data integration governance observability cloud optimization and platform modernization.
As part of our expansion we are building stronger capabilities in two strategic areas: Migrations and Data Integrations. Migrations focuses on modernizing legacy data assets and platform capabilities into our modern cloud-native stack. Data Integrations focuses on building and evolving reliable application and platform integrations that connect enterprise systems to the broader data ecosystem.
What you will do
We are seeking a seasoned Staff Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in scaling Kinaxis Migrations and Data Integrations capabilities. This is a senior technical leadership role focused on defining the architecture patterns standards and reusable frameworks required to modernize legacy data assets and evolve enterprise integrations.
You will help establish a repeatable engineering capability to migrate pipelines transformations data models orchestration workflows observability patterns and reporting dependencies from legacy platforms such as Snowflake PostgreSQL SQL Server Airflow Grafana Informatica and related systems into the modern Kinaxis data stack built on Databricks GCP dbt Power BI and cloud-native orchestration and observability tooling.
You will also lead the design and evolution of Data Integrations including building new application-to-application connectors in MuleSoft and guiding the maintenance enhancement and selective migration of existing integrations currently implemented in Informatica.
This role requires strong technical depth architectural thinking and the ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering Architecture Governance Cloud Services and business stakeholders. Your work will directly support modernization reduce technical debt improve operational reliability and help establish a scalable engineering capability as the team expands.
Key responsibilities
Migrations leadership
- Define and evolve the technical architecture standards and delivery patterns for the Migrations function.
- Design reusable migration frameworks templates validation controls and automation accelerators to modernize legacy data assets into the Kinaxis modern data stack.
- Lead the migration of pipelines data transformations semantic models orchestration workflows observability/reporting dependencies and related assets from legacy platforms to cloud-native technologies.
- Establish robust validation reconciliation testing and cutover-readiness practices to ensure migrated assets are accurate reliable and production-ready.
- Identify opportunities to industrialize migration delivery through repeatable patterns tooling and engineering standards.
- Guide technical decision-making on refactor vs. rebuild approaches for legacy assets based on scalability maintainability performance and long-term platform fit.
Data Integrations leadership
- Define the target architecture engineering standards and reusable patterns for application-to-application and platform-to-platform integrations.
- Lead the design of new app-to-app connectors and integration services in MuleSoft.
- Establish the engineering approach for maintaining enhancing and selectively migrating existing integrations built in Informatica and Python.
- Design scalable integration patterns using APIs file-based exchanges orchestration workflows and batch or event-driven processing.
- Ensure integration solutions are resilient observable secure and supportable in production.
- Create reusable integration frameworks for testing monitoring reconciliation and error handling.
Platform engineering and delivery excellence
- Drive engineering best practices across CI/CD version control testing documentation deployment automation and operational support.
- Build and oversee scalable batch and stream-based pipelines for a range of platform and business use cases.
- Ensure strong data quality through validation cleansing lineage awareness and exception handling.
- Troubleshoot complex data engineering and integration challenges with a focus on performance reliability and scale.
- Stay current on relevant technology trends and best practices across data platforms integration tooling and cloud-native engineering.
Collaboration strategy and mentorship
- Partner with internal stakeholders across business units and technical teams to design and deliver modernization and integration solutions aligned to business priorities.
- Collaborate with peers specializing in FinOps Data Architecture Data Governance Cloud Engineering and Observability to solve cross-functional problems.
- Distill complex technical programs into actionable workstreams technical plans and delivery milestones.
- Provide strategic oversight for large-scale initiatives and help shape the technical direction of the team.
- Mentor and develop engineers helping establish strong technical foundations for the expanding India team.
- Communicate technical strategy modernization progress tradeoffs and risks clearly to stakeholders and leadership.

What we are looking for
- 7 years of experience in data engineering analytics engineering integration engineering migration engineering software engineering or related fields.
- Deep hands-on experience with both legacy and modern data platforms with a strong track record of building scalable reliable solutions.
- Strong experience leading platform modernization efforts including migration of pipelines models workflows and reporting dependencies from legacy systems into modern cloud-native stacks.
- Strong hands-on expertise with technologies such as Databricks dbt GCP Snowflake PostgreSQL SQL Server Power BI Airflow and related data platform tools.
- Deep experience with enterprise integration tooling including MuleSoft for modern connector development and Informatica for legacy integration maintenance and modernization.
- Expert proficiency in software engineering principles including CI/CD Git RESTful APIs Python and SQL.
- Strong familiarity with observability tooling such as Datadog
- Experience designing validation reconciliation monitoring and error-handling frameworks for production data and integration systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills architectural judgment and a pragmatic approach to modernization.
- Proven ability to lead large initiatives influence technical direction and mentor engineers.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical plans tradeoffs and outcomes to varied audiences.
- Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with Terraform Ansible and cloud cost optimization practices is a plus.
- Experience working in SaaS environments is a plus.
