Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance & Payroll Officer to join our team in a fast-paced luxury hotel environment. This is a key role responsible for the end-to-end management of payroll while also supporting core finance operations across the business.

You will work closely with department leaders and senior stakeholders acting as the go-to person for payroll-related matters. With a proactive and solutions-focused mindset you will not only ensure accuracy and compliance but also identify opportunities to improve processes strengthen controls and mitigate risk.

What youll be doing...

  • Managing end-to-end weekly payroll processing ensuring accuracy timeliness and full compliance with relevant legislation
  • Maintaining payroll system integrity including employee data award interpretation and system configuration
  • Interpreting and applying the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020 across varying rosters employment types and penalty structures
  • Partnering with Heads of Department to ensure accurate timekeeping roster inputs and approvals
  • Acting as the first point of contact for payroll-related queries and providing guidance to stakeholders across the business
  • Managing superannuation payroll tax PAYG and other statutory obligations
  • Preparing payroll reports variance analysis and labour cost insights to support decision-making
  • Supporting month-end and year-end financial processes including reconciliations and reporting
  • Assisting with accounts payable receivable and general finance tasks as required
  • Maintaining strong internal controls and proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies or risks
  • Supporting internal and external audit requirements related to payroll and finance
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives including system enhancements and process optimisation

Qualifications :

 

  • Proven experience in a similar payroll and/or finance role ideally within hospitality or a fast-paced environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation including Fair Work and ATO requirements
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting modern awards ideally the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020
  • Availability to work on public holidays when required to support payroll processing
  • High level of accuracy attention to detail and accountability
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and collaborating across multiple departments
  • A proactive analytical and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
  • Strong systems skills with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new platforms
  • Experience with WageEasy and Humanforce is preferred but not essential
  • Experience with Opera and Micros or similar hospitality systems is advantageous
