Qualifications: High School Diploma (or equivalent) valid North Carolina Drivers License and evidence of liability insurance and at least 2 years experience within the Maintenance field.
Special Considerations: Able to show certifications within the Maintenance field.
Reports to: Director of Maintenance
Purpose of Position: To create and provide safe clean orderly and cost-effective support to our school systems staff and students. The job of Maintenance Technician is established for the purpose/s of providing maintenance services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing repairing maintaining and upgrading maintenance equipment assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available at job site.
Responsibilities Duties & Expectations:
Completes work orders assigned
Performs General Maintenance duties as needed
Keeps time materials and work records as required
Demolition of walls or other damaged areas as needed for repairs
Inspects and investigates roofs gutters and downspouts for leaks and damages
Assists in minor HVAC electrical plumbing and lighting repairs
Considerable knowledge of carpentry
Considerable knowledge of applicable building codes and specifications
Ability to maintain accurate records
Minimum computer skills necessary
Ability to plan organize and prioritize work
Basic knowledge of electricity mechanical systems and plumbing
Skill in the use of hand and power tools
Ability to work from plans blueprints and sketches
Knowledge of materials used in drywall construction
Skill in the use of all tools related to the trades
Ability to follow oral and written directions
Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff maintenance technicians and contractors as needed
Perform general painting and drywall repairs as needed.
Receives training and in-service pertinent to the job function
Performs other functions as assigned by the Director of Maintenance
Evaluation and Measurement of Performance: Each employee is evaluated and measured for performance on an annual basis by the Director of Maintenance. Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
