Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

• Must be able to perform the professional clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit/section or department. Will be required to maintain regulatory compliance according to CLIA and CAP requirements. Participate in hospital and laboratory quality management programs and maintain records and documentation appropriately.
• The Clinical Laboratory Technician is a position in the Laboratory that will perform duties in separate individual departments. Some duties may be common to multiple departments and others very specific for the individual area.
• The Clinical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for proper specimen collection including patient preparation if applicable labeling handling preservation or fixation processing or preparation transportation and storage of specimens.
• Training will be completed and documented prior to performing testing or analyzing patient specimens.
• Follows the laboratorys procedures for all activities to include but not limited to specimen handling and processing test analyses reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
• Adhere to the laboratorys quality control policies document all quality control and other activities instrument and procedural calibrations and equipment maintenance activities.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately communicate the issue to leadership.
• Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications.
• A working knowledge of reagent stability and storage
• Tracks and maintains inventory of supplies and reagents.
• Prepares chemicals and reagents for processing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology Clinical Laboratory science chemical physical or biological science.
• High School Graduate

Preferred Education and Experience

• job related experience in clinical diagnostic lab

Required Language Skills

• - Excellent verbal communication skills

Knowledge Requirements

• Proficient in Microsoft Word Excel and data management
