Position Title: Laboratory Support Technician
Location: Hyannis MA
Duration: 13 Weeks (Contract)
Shift: Evening Shift (1:00 PM 9:00 PM)
Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Laboratory Support Technician to support daily laboratory operations. This role is responsible for coordinating specimen processing managing laboratory data and ensuring timely and accurate workflow while delivering excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide courteous and professional support to patients healthcare staff and visitors
- Perform data entry tasks including order entry cancellations and result documentation
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory information systems
- Answer and manage incoming calls providing accurate information as needed
- Verify label and process incoming specimens according to established protocols
- Communicate specimen status priorities and issues with laboratory personnel
- Coordinate specimen transport within the facility and to external laboratories
- Prepare and package specimens for shipment ensuring compliance with procedures
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain proper storage of supplies
- Support pre-analytical processes such as centrifugation aliquoting and labeling
- Perform general laboratory maintenance and ensure a clean safe work environment
- Assist with blood specimen collection as assigned
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all policies and regulatory requirements
- Participate in quality assurance and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to read write and follow detailed instructions
- Typing speed of at least 30 WPM
- Completion of Medical Terminology coursework or equivalent knowledge preferred
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a healthcare or laboratory setting such as:
- Laboratory Assistant / Technician
- Patient Care Technician (PCT)
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Phlebotomist
- Unit Clerk / Health Unit Coordinator
- Medical Administrative or Support roles
- Experience with specimen handling lab systems or phlebotomy is a plus
