SUMMARY OVERVIEW

The Mail Cargo Agent is responsible for handling processing and managing the movement of mail cargo through the airport facilities. This role includes loading and unloading mail from aircraft sorting and organizing mail for distribution and ensuring timely and accurate dispatch to destinations. You must adhere to safety and security protocols; handle documentation related to mail cargo and operate equipment such as forklifts and trolleys. Additionally you will work with airlines postal services and other stakeholders to coordinate mail logistics and address any issues that may arise.â

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Handle and process incoming and outgoing mail and cargo at the airportâ

• Sort and organize mail and cargo based on destination priority and typeâ

• Operate ground handling equipment for loading and unloading mail and cargoâ

• Ensure proper handling and storage of mail and cargo in compliance with safety guidelinesâ

• Coordinate with airlines and ground crew for the timely transfer of mail and cargoâ

• Inspect mail and cargo for security verifying contents against documentationâ

• Prepare and maintain accurate records of mail and cargo shipmentsâ

• Assist in the completion of necessary customs documentation for international shipmentsâ

• Monitor and manage inventory of mail and cargo handling supplies and equipmentâ

• Respond to inquiries and provide information regarding mail and cargo statusâ

• Follow regulations and procedures for handling hazardous materials and perishablesâ

• Participate in training programs related to mail and cargo handling safety and securityâ

• Assist in tracking and tracing lost or delayed shipmentsâ

• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the mail and cargo handling areasâ

• Collaborate with other airport departments to ensure efficient and secure mail and cargo operationsâ

• Perform any additional duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

• 18 years of age or older

• Must be a U.S. citizen

• Must have a valid state-issued drivers license with an acceptable driving record

• Communicate effectively in English (reading writing speaking)

• Experience in cargo handling logistics or a related fieldâ

• Familiarity with mail processing and sorting proceduresâ

• Ability to operate cargo handling equipment such as forkliftsâ

• Physical ability to lift and move heavy itemsâ

• Must be registered with Selective Service

• Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically including theuseofelectronic devices includingIPads/Tablets Computers and Mobile Devices

• Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients both in-person and through electronic means

• Pass a background check and drug screen

• Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA TSA Port Authority U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)

• Airlines are 24/7 so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights weekends and holidays
