Job Summary

POSITION TITLE: Child Nutrition Distribution Associate

EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-exempt

REPORTS TO: Warehouse Manager

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months

Primary Purpose

Receive store and distribute material tools equipment and products.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

High school diploma or GED preferred

Valid Texas drivers license

Forklift Certification Required (must obtain within 30 days of employment)

Foodhandler Certification Required (must obtain within 30 days of employment)

Special Knowledge/Skills

Acceptable driving record

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)

Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations

Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack

Ability to drive automatic and standard transmission vehicles including large box deliver trucks

Basic Computer Skills

Experience

One to three years related experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Distribution and Delivery

  • Read production schedule customer orders work orders shipping orders or requisition to determine items to be moved gathered or distributed.
  • Move materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
  • Fill requisitions work orders or requests for materials tools or other stock items and distribute items to campus sites according to orders and quantities required paying attention to details such as pack unit and other order details requested
  • Assemble campus orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves ensuring safe storage and assembly to prevent product loss and accurate deliveries.
  • Weigh or count items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to department standards.
  • Drive vehicle to transport or pickup items between warehouse to campus/district locations.
  • Verify items to requisition upon arrival at delivery site.

Inventory

  • Receive and safely unload and store food and supplies from vendors ensuring accurate counts and product acceptability including USDA commodities using forklifts pallet jacks and other tools as needed
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size type style color or product code.
  • Sort and store perishable goods in freezer and cooler zones according to their required storage method ensuring food safety procedures for product quality and safety.
  • Mark materials/stored products with identifying information as required by USDA TDA Local Health Department and Food Safety regulations.
  • Open bales crates and other containers as needed.
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed accurately and timely.
  • Restock freezers coolers and shelves ensuring use of FIFO methods.
  • Communicate with Supervisor Inventory Clerk and Directors regarding product stock levels potential shortages and substitutions in a timely manner ensuring compliance with program rules and regulations
  • Conduct accurate inventory counts as requested including full annual inventory of all products stored in the warehouse.

Safety

  • Prioritize food safety by ensuring proper and prompt storage of food in designated locations.
  • Initiate and maintain proper and necessary safety and fire prevention equipment within warehouse as prescribed by law and school policy.
  • Operate tools equipment and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to director.
  • Participate in professional learning training programs staff meetings and special events as assigned.
  • Assist the Warehouse Manager with monitoring department vehicles equipment and facilities for any maintenance or repairs

  • Maintain effective communication and rapport with vendors the public employees and other customers assist with questions and requests that fall within level of responsibility and respond promptly and courteously.

Tools/Equipment Used: Ladder dolly scaffolding forklift pallet jack box knife and small hand tools

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing occasional kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting reaching

Motion: moderate walking standing and climbing; heavy lifting and carrying; stooping bending kneeling and reaching.

Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance 30-55 pounds with assistance and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance

Environment: work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects and vehicles; exposure to dampness and humidity; work on ladders and scaffolding; exposure to slippery and uneven surfaces

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress work with frequent interruptions
