About the Job

At Walker Aggregates were looking for a skilled and safety-focused Shipping Loader Operator to join our team at the Port Elgin Depot.

In this role youll be at the heart of our operationsresponsible for loading and moving aggregate materials efficiently while ensuring every shipment meets our high standards. Youll also have the opportunity to support scalehouse operations giving you a dynamic mix of equipment operation customer interaction and administrative responsibilities.

Hourly Rate: $29.50

What youll be doing

As a key member of our operations team you will:

  • Operate a shipping loader safely and efficiently to load aggregate materials onto customer and company trucks
  • Perform pre-operational inspections routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on equipment
  • Work closely with dispatch to ensure accurate product selection and load quantities
  • Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment including stockpile and loading areas
  • Monitor truck flow and communicate clearly with drivers and team members to keep operations running smoothly

Scalehouse Support (as needed):

  • Weigh inbound and outbound trucks with accuracy
  • Prepare and issue load tickets and receipts
  • Handle cash transactions and maintain accurate records
  • Deliver excellent customer service to drivers contractors and visitors
  • Maintain shipping documentation and inventory records
  • Report equipment issues safety concerns or discrepancies promptly to your supervisor

Heres What You Need

  • Minimum 2 years experience operating a loader preferably in a quarry or similar environment.

  • Valid G license in good standing

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with routine equipment maintenance.

  • Experience operating a shipping loader or working in shipping logistics is an asset.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with drivers contractors and colleagues.

  • Cash-handling and basic record-keeping experience.

  • Common Core training or equivalent quarry certification is an asset.

  • Comfortable with basic computer systems and data entry.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
