Job Type: Contract / Full-Time
We are seeking a skilled ECM Troubleshooting Engineer with strong experience in automotive electronics to support diagnostics validation and failure analysis of Engine Control Modules (ECMs). The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in troubleshooting complex electronic systems and performing root cause analysis in a lab environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform troubleshooting and failure analysis of automotive electronic systems specifically ECMs/ECUs
- Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to diagnose issues
- Conduct validation testing and field return analysis of automotive control modules
- Utilize lab equipment such as oscilloscopes digital multimeters power supplies and electronic loads
- Diagnose component-level failures electrical faults and thermal-related issues
- Use diagnostic tools such as CAN analyzers to monitor and analyze system behavior
- Perform root cause analysis using methodologies such as 5-Why Fishbone and fault isolation
- Recreate field failures in lab environments to identify underlying issues
- Analyze system logs and correlate software behavior with hardware performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design manufacturing and quality
- Document findings and provide actionable recommendations for issue resolution
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Electronics Engineering or related field
(or equivalent hands-on experience in automotive electronics) - Strong experience in automotive electronics troubleshooting
- In-depth knowledge of Engine Control Modules (ECMs) and related subsystems
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Experience with ECU/ECM validation and testing processes
- Hands-on experience with lab testing equipment
- Familiarity with CAN tools and automotive diagnostic systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
- Experience with field return analysis and failure replication
- Exposure to automotive software-hardware integration debugging
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Onsite role based in Columbus Indiana
